Throughout the Western world, even in cities like London which are praised for their ‘multiculturalism’, people of colour are underrepresented in every area of society.

Whiteness and the things that uphold it are made to be so omnipresent that they go unnoticed. White becomes the norm; the ordinary; the standard.

When exploring such white privilege, sociologist Peggy Macintosh gave this example: “I can chose blemish cover or bandages in “flesh” colour and have them more or less match my skin”
